The Lake Hornets ended a successful 8-3 season with a heartbreaking 18-12 loss to Enterprise in the first round of the Mississippi Class 1A playoffs. The Hornets traveled to Enterprise last Friday night to take on a tough Bulldogs team. It was a close game throughout, but when the final horn sounded, the Hornets came up short on the road ending their 2019 season.
The Hornets received a tough challenge in the playoff draw by having to travel to Enterprise to take on a 9-1 Bulldog team that could have easily won most regions in Class 2A. The only loss Enterprise suffered this season was at the hands of Class 2A No. 2 Taylorsville.
Lake head coach Tate Hanna said his team knew this would be a tough test on the road and that Enterprise simply made more plays when they needed to.
Lake ends the season at 8-3, dropping their last two games after starting the season 8-1. The Hornets finished the regular season third in Region 6, and will look to build on the team’s young nucleus for next season.
