Last Friday the Sebastopol Bobcats traveled to Florence to face the McLaurin Tigers and for the second straight Friday night the Bobcats came up short. After coming off a blow-out loss to their cross-county rival Lake Hornets, Sebastopol looked to bounce back with a big win.
Sebastopol senior RB Javiers Johnson gave the Bobcats their lone touchdown on the night, and rushed for 102 yards on 28 carries. During the first three games of the season he has a total of 278 rushing yards for the Bobcats ground game. But his effort against the homestanding Tigers was just not enough as the Bobcats were unable to earn the road win.
For McLaurin juniors Jayvias Horton, Kenny Bacon, and Marquez Wells all scored a touchdown in the McLaurin victory. Bacon was the Tigers leading rusher and ended the night with 71 yards on 15 carries and Marquez Wells added 42 yards on 8 carries.
This was a nonconference game for both teams and McLaurin took the win by a final score of 19-6. The loss dropped the Bobcats’s season record below .500 to 1-2, and moved the homestanding McLaurin Tigers to 2-1 on the season.
This week the Bobcats will prepare to host the Ethel Tigers will come in with a record of 1-2. The Friday night game will be both teams first conference game of the season. The Ethel Tigers are still looking to get their first win of the season, but expects to be a tough opponent for the Bobcats. Sebastopol is looking to even up their record and start conference play off on a winning note by defeating the Tigers. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday night.
