Dusty, dry, and dangerous

I suppose we got ahead of ourselves at my house thinking that most of our shrubs and trees that suffered severe damage during the deep freeze of last winter had somehow survived. Fact is, they had survived and even flourished. Especially the azaleas. Now, unfortunately, I think they are all going to die.

Have we forgotten?

We were talking over the weekend, my wife Danny and I, about the “never forget” aspect of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on our nation. With the passing of the 22nd anniversary of those attacks on Monday, it kind of seems like, at times, a lot of folks “have” forgotten.

When August turns to September

Every time August turns to September I think to myself “this year seems to be quickly slipping away.” This one seems to be moving faster than any I remember. I suppose the wise words of our elders before we became the elders are certainly holding true — time passes more quickly with every passing year. I speak them often myself.
