Mr. and Mrs. Allan Atkison of Forest, MS, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Alana Brooke Atkison, to David Stratton Hendershot, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hendershot of Forest, MS.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Van Jones of Forest, MS, and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Atkison, also of Forest, MS.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Gaughf of Brandon, MS, as well as the late Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hendershot Sr. of Jackson, MS.
Miss Atkison is a 2016 graduate of Forest High School where she was Valedictorian, a member of Hall of Fame, and elected Student Body President. As a 2020 Shakouls Honors College graduate of Mississippi State University, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English and a minor in Pre-Law. While there, Miss Atkison was an active member of Delta Lambda chapter of Delta Gamma Sorority, as well as participated in numerous campus organizations such as Baptist Student Union and Gamma Beta Phi Honors Society. Brooke is excited to join the Scott Central family in the fall where she will be teaching high school English Language Arts.
Mr. Hendershot is a 2013 honors graduate of Scott Central Attendance Center and is also a 2014 graduate of Holmes Community College where he was a member of the HCC Bulldog football team. He continued his education at Mississippi College where he played football for the MC Choctaw football team and earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management in 2017. In addition, he earned a Masters of Science in Sports Administration from Arkansas State University. Mr. Hendershot currently teaches Social Studies and coaches football and baseball at Scott Central Attendance Center.
The couple will exchange vows in a ceremony at Forest Baptist Church on July 11th, 2020, at 6pm in Forest, MS.
