Parishioners at St. Michael Catholic Church enjoyed Pastor Pasilas’ homily concerning Jeremiah placing two sources of guidance before the people, namely, human ingenuity and divine law. Jeremiah 17:5-8 is a classic example of wisdom teaching. To whom do we listen? Blessed is the one who “delights in the law of the Lord.” The outcome of choosing this way is a meaningful and fruitful life. The consequence of the opposite decision is emptiness and barrenness. What is your choice? Fr. Adolfo reminded us that as parents, we should instill basic values in our children…and we should spread the reign of God. Acceptance of this invitation could at times exact a dear price. Sharing the truth can create enemies.
St. Michael Youth Department sponsored a Youth Saturday Picnic February 12th in the Church’s Park. More than 40 young people enjoyed the soccer games and other activities as well as the delicious meal and treats.
Little Rock M. B. Church service sermon theme was, “Don’t Let Go No Matter What.” Scriptures referenced by Pastor Sheldon Thomas were Psalm 78:41, Matthew 13:54-58, and 1 John 2:16-17. According to Pastor Thomas, “We have the tendency to lose interest in some things after we’ve been in it for quite some time. We stop honoring, respecting, and noticing it. Jesus couldn’t do many miracles in his hometown because of their unbelief. We put limits on God, just like He has to struggle to do things. You have to have some Word in you to overcome the trials of this life. The Word declares, ‘Greater is He that’s in me than he that is in the world.’ The enemy tests us through the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. That all he has so we must hold on, hold out, hold fast, and don’t let go.”
