Midway M. B Church Bible class will start back on July 7th at 6:30 P.M. Rev. Wesley Griffin will teach the class. Sunday School started July 4th at 9:00 a.m. one class unless there will be youth present.
Tom and his wife, Dr. Locord Wilson met up with their children, Tiona Wilson and Dr. Tomika Wilson Greer, her husband Jonte Greer and their two daughters, Jayla and Tamyra Greer of Pearland, TX in New Orleans enjoying a mini-vacation. They enjoyed themselves and had a wonderful time.
Congratulations to my granddaughter, Ashley Stowers on her engagement to Tauran “Smooth” Evans of Laurel, MS. They now reside in Houston, Tx. They will celebrate their engagement with an engagement party on July 25, 2021 in Houston, TX.
Had a conversation with Wanda Stowers Bivins last week. She resides in Hernando, MS, but at the time she was visiting with friends outside of Nashville. She is doing well and wishes everyone best wishes and good health.
Talked to Francis Odom Denson of Chattanooga, TN, via phone recently. They are all doing okay. Just checking up on family here.
Do not forget the Scott County Sports Hall of Fame where different people who have participated in some form of sports or sports announcing in Scott County will be recognized. The Sports Hall of Fame program will be July 25th at Livingston Arts Center at Roosevelt State Park. Tickets are S10 each.
The late Rodney Stowers will be honored. He started playing football at Scott Central Attendance Center, then at Forest High School and lastly at Mississippi State University. He was an honoree for 2020 but because of the pandemic the program was rescheduled until this year.
Sympathy to the Whittington Family in the passing of Diamond Whittington’s new born baby. Keep the family in your prayers. Diamond lost her mother Venita Mann Whittington this year and lost her father in June of 2018.
Sympathy for the Chisolm, Hall, and Owens families in the passing of Deacon Willie Owens. Deacon Owens was married to Ada Ruth Chisolm formerly of Forest. Ada Ruth and Bobbie Nell had been raised by their aunt D’Ella Barron. They both graduated from Hawkins High School. His services were entrusted to Reeves Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Olive, MS.
Sympathy to the Waits and Finderson family in the passing of Ashley Finderson. Her services were held at Mapp Funeral Home Chapel. Her interment was at New Mt. Calvary M. B. Church Cemetery, Lake, MS. Mapp Funeral Home was entrusted with her arrangements.
Sympathy to the Moppins, Boyd and Arrington families in the passing Virgil Lewis Arrington, Jr. His services were at Mt. Carmel M. B. Church, Morton, MS. His interment was at the Masonic Cemetery, Morton. Mapp Funeral Home was entrusted with his arrangements.
Sympathy to the Jones and Hamilton Families in the passing of Cleo Jones Hamilton. Her services were at Hopewell Church in Louin. Mapp Funeral Home was entrusted with her arrangements.
Sympathy to the Evans family in the passing of Vinnie Evans. Her services are tentatively scheduled for July 10th. Evans Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.
