Our minds have two compartments: consciousness and sub-consciousness. When we talk about things that we have done, the reality is that we did it and our subconscious at some point stored it or future use or memory. If we are believers and the Holy Spirit has entered into us it means that the Word of God has been stored and our conscience will show things that, in reality, we have understood and that pleases God. If the Spirit dwells in us, it will cause us to act according to what we have “stored” in our understanding of the divine. For this reason, it is very important to know and understand each day more of the Word of God so that it translates into actions consistent with the teachings of Christ.
In our western world there are political leaders with a lot of power who call themselves Christians, and despite having read the Sacred Scriptures and attending church, in their public lives they do not manifest what Christ asks us to do in our lives. In the same way we all hear or read truths that we sometimes do not grasp since we make wrong decisions in life. That means taking the wrong paths and not following “the path through which the few wise men who have been in the world have been” (Quote by Fray Luis de Leon in Ode to the retired life).
In society there are prejudices that underlie and that cause undesirable realities that are not compatible with Christian principles. Many important Christian ministers are more concerned with fulfilling political commitments than witnessing their faith and commitment to Christ. Our public life must necessarily be a faithful sign that we are disciples of Christ. What we understand by a democracy must be, in the end, a Christian moral structure that gave bases to our western culture for hundreds of years. That is not happening today in many countries that are supposed to be important, like ours. Despite the fact that there were elections, there are rulers who try to manipulate the population through the social network and mass media. This has created situations that move away from what is the truth inspired by God.
The Christian moral structure is based on the honesty, integrity and truthfulness that the Scriptures teach us. “Through him then let us continually offer us a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” (Hebrews 13:15-16 ESV) When leaders speak iniquities remember, “…but no human being can tame the tongue. It is restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.” (James 3:8-9 ESV)
Do not rely on privileges given by the world or external professions that politicians ask us to follow, rather we are counted as true believers who enter into heaven.
May God bless you.
