Harperville Baptist hosts Jacket Drive
While it is probably no longer news to anyone, it is worth stating again that the Scott Central Rebels are North District Champs! They defeated Calhoun City, during what probably felt like a monsoon, last Friday night to clinch the win and the title with a score of 27-0. They have earned the opportunity to play in the 2A State Championship on Saturday, December 1st, at 3:00 p.m. at the M. M. Roberts Stadium on the University of Southern Mississippi campus in Hattiesburg. The Rebels will play the South State Champions, the Taylorsville Tartars. Admission to the game is $15.
Many thanks to Mr. Frank Edmondson, the Scott County Broadcasting Network and the sponsors for the coverage of this and other games. The sponsors of the broadcasts are Community Partners Federal Credit Union, Cox Chevron, Central Electric Power Association, Community Bank, Bank of Forest, State Representative Tom Miles, Northside General Store, Southside Mart, Bo Haarala Autoplex, Popeye’s Chicken, Senator Terry Burton, The Spirit of Morton and the Scott County Sports Hall of Fame. Over 4,000 fans tuned in to hear the broadcast of the Scott Central vs Calhoun City game, some as far away as Kuwait. If you cannot travel to Hattiesburg on Saturday, the SCBN will also broadcast the Championship game.
The Harperville Baptist Church will be conducting a jacket drive to benefit students at Scott Central. Please donate a new or gently used jacket before December 16th. The Men’s Ministry Breakfast will be hosted next Sunday morning. The Women’s Annual Ornament Swap will be held on December 6th at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All women are invited to attend and bring a wrapped ornament and finger food. The Missions Committee is sponsoring a trip to the panhandle of Florida to assist in hurricane relief efforts, December 8-10. Anyone interested in going on the mission trip, should contact Jason Tillman.
