ack to School
Students new to Scott Central will register July 28th and 29th. This registration is only for students who were not enrolled when school closed in the spring. All returning students will be given registration documents to take home on the first day the student attends for parents to complete and return.
Congratulations to Jody Matheny, Jr., a 2020 graduate of Scott Central, on being awarded the Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation, Inc. Scholarship.
The primary concern as we begin the new school year will be the safety and welfare of our students, parents, community and staff. Our “wish lists” are items that we could use to help supplement cleaning supplies and miscellaneous items in classrooms, cafeterias, and buses. Those items are cleaning wipes, bleach, alcohol prep wipes, isopropyl alcohol, paper towels, spray bottles, hand sanitizer, bottled water, water bottles, and disinfecting spray are a few items that will be needed throughout the year. If you would like to donate any of these items, please drop them off by the high school office.
Christy Martin, our High School Counselor, is also spearheading efforts to obtain air purifiers for all the classrooms. The cost of each purifier is approximately $100. You can purchase one directly or make monetary donations in any amount. You may mail or drop donations off at the school, Scott Central, 2415 Old Jackson Road, Forest, Ms 39074.
The Scott Central Rebel Pride Band just completed a full week of band camp and they will perform their “Spirit Show” Friday July 31 at 3:00. This show will feature our varsity cheerleaders. All are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets and sit by the marching tower on the practice parking lot. Remember to social distance please!
I want to wish a very happy 50th Anniversary to Jimmy and Iris King, my brother and sister-in-law. They were not able to have a big celebration due to Covid, but it was a special day nonetheless. They were surprised with a banner, balloons, many cards and gifts, a tribute from their church, and a drive-by parade with friends and family. They are a sweet couple that are dearly loved by their family, friends and church family.
