The MessageBy PASTOR BILL MYERS,
God promises to take care of us, and He won’t break His promises!
“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you — you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” (Matthew 6: 26-32)
As Christians and believers of God’s Word, we need to remind ourselves daily that God desires to take care of us and will provide for us. So many times we are guilty of saying, “He will provide,” but are filled with doubt and fear that He won’t. Sometimes we say, “He will take care of my problem,” but we never really let go of the situation and try to solve it on our own.
I’m not referring to a mentality of laziness, refusing to work, with expectations that God will give us what we need while we lie on the sofa at home playing video games 24/7. No, our Father expects us to work; but He tells us that He’ll take care of and provide for our needs, blessing us beyond imagination. Why? Because we are righteous! Jesus paid the price for us to live a blessed life.
“And Abraham called the name of that place ‘Jehovah-Jireh,’ because it is said this day in the mount, ‘Jehovah does provide.’” (Genesis 22:14)
Friends, we call Him Jehovah-Jireh because He does provide for us! If He takes care of the birds in the air, He will surely provide for His children! We mustn’t allow doubt and fear to creep in our minds and create a “worry session” which usually leads to a major headache or stomach pains. Let’s choose to trust Him in all areas of our lives! His timing is always best.
Did you know there are over 6,000 promises in the Bible? Our Heavenly Father is a promise-keeper!
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you…” (Matthew 6:33)
No matter how you feel, He will never abandon you! Yes, He will take care of your every need! That’s His promise! Yes, He will provide! Today, I encourage you to trust and believe with a thankful heart.
He loves you!
