Our Prayers
The prayers of the believer arise from the heart and imply communication with God, Who, in turn, is always willing to listen to them. Your answers are expressed freely and according to your own will and for that reason many times we fail to understand when our ego is not satisfied. Although Jesus is Light, we are blinded by the world and we do not see or hear His voice tell us: “Understand, O dullest of the people! Fools, when will you be wise? He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does not he see?” (Psalm 94:8-9 ESV)
Our communication with God includes adoration, obedience and repentance of sins committed and our thanksgiving. The prayer itself can, and often, should be short, pure and precise without the need for vain repetitions. Those that are inspired by divine inspiration and not by habit of speaking extensively will often be longer.
We pray always in the name of Jesus and guided by the Holy Spirit so that the community should be cautious not to fall into a state of religious hysteria. Some congregations sometimes fall away from a true communion with God resulting in a contagious nervous state rather than an active presence of the Lord. Our Lord is always, in any case, present listening and observing. “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:20 ESV)
As Christians we are called to good and our prayers invoke the triune God in one: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. When we do not pray we harden our hearts and our spirit deadens because we will not listen to God who walks silently in our interior and guides us with inaudible voices. Praying does not mean repeating prayers learned from memory, nor complaining about how busy we are in this world and how bad we feel. It is more about communicating in a simple way with God, giving thanks, asking for health or a remedy for our ailments, repenting of the wrong things that we usually do, showing a willingness to change, and obedience to Him. In reality there are many things with which we can converse with Him without having to repeat learned prayers. The most important thing is our desire to pray in any circumstance and in any place.
In our daily walk we will realize that He is present everywhere, and He wants us to witness to others of His presence with the peace He gives us when we often pray. Unfortunately, the environment has been invaded by digital media. The digital world must be managed wisely so as not to fall into the addiction that is observed in many. The social network is not a good counselor for those who wish to pray and keep in touch with our Lord.
“Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with love incorruptible.” (Ephesians 6:23-24 ESV).
May God bless you.
