Convenience
By definition, convenience is the quality of being convenient; useful, personally favorable or suitable. A good example is when someone gets married just for convenience and not because of love. In the spiritual field there are also some people who believe and follow God because they believe it is convenient, thinking that He will make life easier and will give them material riches.
Christian reality, however, is different. The world is full of convenient opportunities, offering things of which a believer needs to be careful. Jesus’ call to follow Him, and that call, for some people, can be a call to live poorly or chaste but, for all Christians it is a call to serve and love Him without any conditions. This means if we love the Lord we love one another as ourselves because “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8 ESV)
God doesn’t impose himself on anyone because He looks for those who will accept Him for Him and for the sacrifice He made and not looking for Him for convenience’s sake. The only way to encounter Jesus Christ is to leave what is convenient for personal greed and look for Him with all your heart. From the moment you receive Christ in your heart you will not need to look for religions, castes or philosophies that ignore the Bible.
Christ, for us, is life and because we believe in Him we find everything we need through our faith in Him. Everybody can be saved if we accept that He died on the Cross because of our sins. He resurrected the third day and arose to Heaven where He is living with the Father and sent us the Holy Spirit Who dwells in us if we are repented and accept that Jesus Christ is our only Savior. “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.” (Colossians 2:8-10 ESV)
Salvation by faith seems to be easy and many believe they can be saved because of their works but, they are wrong. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV) We have been accepted by the gift of faith and we need to live in obedience to God giving thanks for what Christ did for us on the Cross. “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 ESV)
The world offers conveniences, but Jesus offers us something freely that nobody else can give; our Salvation. You just need faith.
May God bless you.
