Action and Thought
Our actions are generally the reflection of our way of thinking and, for a believer, it is fundamental. If we are Christians, we need to recognize that all our doctrines are oriented to reflect what Christ taught and commanded. That is why the main and most serious difficulty as human beings is to follow Jesus in everything, because we are self-indulgent. This means that we tend to live a life differently from the way Jesus Christ did, even though we decided to follow Him.
Our Christendom then becomes a race where we should never stop if we want to reach the goal; heaven. This race requires from us a constant effort of service, sacrifice and worship, knowing that the only right way is in Christ. It is the reason we are different from any other religion because all our actions and thoughts are centered in Jesus Christ and, no matter what differences we have in doctrines, we are united at the Cross of Jesus. “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” (1 Corinthians 2:2 ESV) The Cross is the main act of divine salvation because it represents, for all the church, the central message of Jesus’ death and resurrection. By the cross of Christ we have entered into the experience of identification with our Lord and have a work to do.
Although all doctrines try to explain how Jesus makes us saints, in fact, there is no one under heaven who can do it. The only one that sanctifies is the Holy Spirit, working inside each one. This is the reason our devotion can lead us when we apply His principles in our lives. He will reveal God to those who follow Him beyond creeds and doctrines. Without Him, there is no freedom. “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’” (John 8:31-32 ESV)
The way, of those who are busy with earthy things and don’t believe in Christ, may look good and pleasant but, death and hell are at the end. For those who put their thoughts on the things of God’s will reflect faithfully the treasure we have with Him. Our earthly creedal differences are not significant before the magnificent union that we will have in Heaven with our Lord.
May God bless you.
