Congratulations to the college graduates
Sympathy is given to the Murrell and Davis Family in the passing of Bobby Davis. Bobby’s arrangements were last Thursday at the Funeral Home. Bobby Davis is the husband of previous Tax Assessor Collector Myra Murrell Davis. Remember the family in your prayers.
Midway M. B. Church Mission Program was held on last Sunday, during regular service. Constance McClendon is the Mission President. Dr. Lorraine Dozier was the Mistress of Ceremony. The speakers on the Fruit of the Spirits were: Sylvia Kennedy spoke on Love and her fruit was the cherry. Sandra McClendon spoke on Joy and her fruit was grapes. Delie Shepard spoke on goodness and her fruit was the peach. Betty Nell White spoke on peace and her fruit was apples. Pam Bank spoke on long suffering and her fruit was pears. Belinda Banks spoke on self-control and her fruit was watermelon. Chelsey McClendon spoke on kindness and her fruit was pineapples. Brenda Nickols spoke on gentleness and her fruit was bananas. Annie Stowers spoke on faithfulness and her fruit was oranges.
Midway M. B. Church Sunday School graduation will be First Sunday, May 6th immediately after Sunday School. Anewar Stowers will graduate from Class 2 to Class 3. Timeshia White, and Thomas McClendon will graduate from Class 3 to Class 4. Martez Nickols will graduate from Class 4 to Class 5. Sunday School Graduation is a transition from one age group to another age group in another class.
Congratulations to the college graduates: Shun Williams will be graduating from Ole Miss. He plans to move to California where his parents, Officer Kenya Williams and Tracy McClendon Williams reside. There he plans to attend law school. Shun is the; grandson of Lonnie McClendon and Sandra Fay Banks McClendon, and Mallory Williams and George Lee Smith.
Laquisha McKee Boon will be graduating from Mississippi State University, with a degree in Business Administration. She plans to further her education with a Master’s Degree. She is graduating with Honors. She is the daughter of Glenda Strong McKee and the granddaughter of the late John Lee Strong and Rosie Lee Stowers Strong.
Neola Washington Jackson will be graduating from Holmes Community College. Neola is the wife of Lasean Jackson. She is also the daughter of Irene Bradford Washington and Bea Washington. The granddaughter of the late Henry Earl Bradford and “Cattle D” Bradford.
Mother’s Day will be celebrated at the church. Leslie Ross, D and the men are preparing a special luncheon for the ladies and Mother’s Day Program will be done by Chelsey McClendon.
The Christian Education Chairman Dr. Locord Wilson and the Vacation Bible School Director, Patty Odom is asking everyone who plans to attend Vacation Bible School to fill out a registration form. Supplies must be ordered.
The Century Family Reunion has had some changes in their venue. Friday’s registration and the meet and greet with supper will be held at Midway Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Registration will start at 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday Night events will be held at Reach One on One in Forest. Picnic will be Sunday at Roosevelt State Park 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. June 24, 2018. We are gearing up for great attendance. The Reunion is at home where all the people originated from that started the reunion in the sixties.
