Memorial Day Celebration begins at 4:00 p.m.

Memorial Day Celebration will be at Midway Park, 6835 Midway Odom Road. There will be games, activities for the children and food.  Activities will start at 4:00 p.m.  A fireworks display will close out the day’s activities.

The Christian Education Chairman Dr. Locord Wilson and the Vacation Bible School Director, Patty Odom is asking everyone who plan to attend Vacation Bible School to fill out a registration form. Vacation Bible School will begin May 29th, 6-8 p.m. The church van will be running to pick up the neighborhood children. 

Father’s Day Banquet will be June 17th, immediately after service.  You are asked to fill out registration sheets, to give an indication of how many will be attending the Banquet.

Graduation recognition was held at church last Sunday. A high school graduate from Lake High School was Shanika Bobbitt. Shanika is the only black honor student from Lake.  She was a three-year member of the Beta Club, a six-year member of the high school, serving one year as drum major. She plans to further her education at The University of Southern Mississippi in the nursing field.  She is the daughter of Crystal Bobbitt McClendon. 

Leake County City Wide Usher Board held its Annual Banquet on last Saturday Night at Midway M. B. Church Fellowship Hall.  The speaker for the occasion was Rev. Wesley Griffin. The banquet was chaired by Constance McClendon. 

Rev. Wesley and Marilyn Griffin’s daughter and her husband attended church service with us last Sunday.  We already knew his son Malik could sing, but his daughter gave us a soul inspiring rendition of Jennifer Hudson’s “Jesus Promised Me A Home Over There”.

Sympathy is given to the Evans Family in the passing of Mallie “Mal” Evans.  His visitation will be Friday 6-8 p.m. at Evans Memorial Funeral Home.  His services will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Midway M. B. Church.  His interment will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Randy Lewis will be officiating.

Thomas and Dr. Locord Wilson motored to Houston last weekend for their grandchildren’s dance recital.  Had a wonderful time at the recital.

 Sympathy is given to the Patrick Family in the passing of Joe “Joe Pat” Patrick on last Friday from an accident on Kings Road. He was eulogized on last Saturday at Leake County High School with his interment at Pine Grove M. B. Church, Madden, Mississippi. The many aspects of his life made up the processional that escorted him from Forest to Walnut Grove. There was family, 18 wheelers, racing cars, motor cycle associates of his many endeavors traveling from as far as Florida to be in the procession. Remember his family in your prayers.

Sympathy is given to the Spivey Family in the passing of Dorothy “Ma Dottie” Spivey Moore.  Her services were last Saturday at New Mt. Calvary, with her interment in the church cemetery. Remember the family in your prayers.

Chenelle McBeath’s uncle passed in Niagara Falls. She, her mother and other immediate family members motored there for the funeral. Remember the family in your prayers.

The Century Family Reunion has had some changes in their venue. The last day for registration without a late fee is June 1, 2018.  If you want a T-shirt your registration must be turned in by June 1. The only T-shirts ordered will be on the registration form, turned in by June 1. There will not be a late order of T-shirts. Friday’s registration and the Meet and Great with supper will be held at Midway Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.  Registration will start at 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday Night events will be held at Reach One on One in Forest. Picnic will be Sunday at Roosevelt State Park 12 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., June 24, 2018. We are gearing up for great attendance. The Reunion is at home where all the people originated from that started the reunion in the Sixties.
