Church Family is saddened by loss
Midway M. B. Church is saddened by the loss of their beloved pastor, Rev. Ronnie Whittington. He passed last Saturday in his home at 5:45 pm. His arrangements are incomplete at my press time. Myrick Funeral Home of Carthage, MS are entrusted with his arrangements. His services are scheduled to be held at Jones Chapel M. B. Church. Rev. Kelly Miller is the pastor.
Wayne Williams, his mother, Maude Williams, sister Tammie Williams Loggins, her husband Terry and her daughter Chelsey Christ motored to Yellowstone National Park for traveling and sightseeing holiday. Wayne reports that they had a wonderful time, and everyone took turns behind the wheel except Maude and Chelsey. Their vacation was fun and enjoyable.
Midway M. B. Church Vacation Bible School was a great success. Each day more than 100 people attended. Each child was given a certificate of attendance. The workers, teachers and cafeteria staff received certificates of appreciation. Many thanks to the workers, no matter the job that you performed.
Midway M. B. Church Vacation Bible School was invited to a day in Midway Park. There was free food, drinks, water, chips and watermelon. Many thanks to those that donated the food, D’Arcy Stowers for donating his time, barbecue grill and his skill in barbecuing. Other helpers were: Delie Shepard, Annie Stowers, Alice Hawkins, Carol Stowers, George Beamon, Charlie Stowers and Tevin provided the basketball goal. Trudy Stowers Denson had raised money for a water slide, jump-a-thon. Thank you to Wayne and Sherry Lewis for the use of their water and electricity. Travarious Hughes had provided the water slide, Jump-a-thon. Thanks to all the parents who came out to help supervise the children.
Father’s Day Banquet will be June 17th, immediately after service. You are asked to fill out registration sheets, to give an indication of how many will be attending the Banquet. Each female 18 and over is asked to fill out the registration sheet and make their donation. The colors for that day will be black and silver or light grey. Pictures will be taken of each father and his family. Delie Shepard will oversee the program.
Sympathy is given to the Howard and Watson family in the passing of Frances Jean Howard. Her services were held last Saturday at Mapp Funeral Home with her interment in Lovelady Cemetery. Cherishing her memories is her daughter Linda Howard and sister Tommie Watson (George) Clark.
Sympathy is given to the Harris Family in the passing of Bennie Harris, Jr. His services were held on last Saturday at Concord M. B. Church. His interment was at Lovelady Cemetery. Mapp Funeral Home was entrusted with his arrangements.
Sympathy is given to the Holifield and Rodrigues Families in the passing of Hope Holifield. She and other family members were involved in an accident on last Sunday on their way back from Meridian. Her arrangements are incomplete at my press time. Remember the family in your prayers.
In the accident, Clark Jackson is in the hospital in Meridian. Lillie Rodrigues is in ICU in Meridian. Pearl and another family member were airlifted to Jackson and are in ICU there. Remember all the family members in your prayers.
Sympathy is given to the Odom family in the passing of Mary C. Odom of Newton. Her arrangements are incomplete at my press time. Holifield Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.
Doris Holifield was rushed to the hospital on last Saturday by ambulance. Remember her and her family in your prayers.
