Fall Festivals are on tap this weekend
Do not forget to go and vote for the candidate of your choice on November 6. If you cannot make it to your precinct polls the courthouse will be open for the next two Saturdays so you can vote an absentee ballot.
Larry Beamon, a United States Army Captain, who also worked as a Telecommunication Specialist for over 20 years, was memorialized at Midway M. B. Church on last Saturday. He graduated from North Scott in 1969, then attended Alcorn State University, he was a member of the ROTC, also becoming a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, in 1971, then graduating with a degree in Industrial Technology in in 1973. At his passing Larry had resided in Lansing, Kansas. Remember his two daughters, son, and his siblings in your prayers. Those siblings that live here are George Beamon, Marshal Beamon, Dwight Beamon and Diane Beamon. Sibling away are, Vinnie Mae Beamon Wade, Bobby Beamon, and Lonzie “Tang” Beamon.
Prayers for Shawanna Matheny who was in St. Dominic Hospital. She is home recuperating. Remember her, husband Jody and their children in your prayers.
One of Midway’s own, US Naval officer and a member of Mississippi Wildlife and Fisheries, Jody Matheny works with Andre Hollis, who is also a Member of Mississippi Wildlife and Fisheries who is stationed at Roosevelt State Park, Roy Lowery a retired manager of Krispy Kreme and Elmer Lowery in their work in mentoring and helping the young people. Their work is really appreciated and it is a great help in helping a young person see and realize there is a better way of doing something, especially with the choices they can make to better the life that they are living.
Scott Central Football team was beaten on last Friday Night by Pelahatchie, by two points (21 to 19). That was a hurting loss. Midway is still proud of all of its coaches especially of, Deacon Tevin Nickols and some players, Dejerrious Black and Zaharrie Kincaid.
Scott Central Football team will be traveling to Philadelphia High School this Friday Night. Please support the team by traveling to Philadelphia and filling up the bleachers, showing your support of Scott Central Football Team.
Midway M. B. Church will be feeding the Football team on October 26 at the Scott Central Cafeteria. We are glad to help in whatever way we can to support the Scott Central Football Team. Keep going strong players you are really doing well.
Scott Central Rebel Pride Band got an overall #1 superior rating at West Harrison Band competition. Midway M. B. Church Members are Martez Nickols, Jamiyah Bloodsaw, Dewayne Cox, Justin McBeath, Kaysha Banks
Scott Central Junior High Football team who is 9-0 won, the Pearl River Conference Championship, with scores 34 to 6 vs Neshoba Central. Church members are Thomas McClendon, Terrance McClendon, Jacoby Anderson, Jeremiah Lyles, Martavious Reed, Nate Hardy and Jeremiah Hicks.
Midway M. B. Church will host Octoberfest on October 27. The circle of Prayer will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the walk following it. The many different games and activities will begin following the walk. The announcement of winners will be at 1:00 p.m.
Midway M. B. Church Home Mission will again host a Trunk or Treat on October 31. All are invited to come and enjoy the many appetizing foods, activities and prizes.
Midway Freewill Baptist Church will also host their Fall Festival on October 27 starting at 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. They want you to wear your costume. They will have food, cake walk, games, prizes, Walking Tacos and Trunk or Treat. All are invited to come.
