Midway M.B. Church will host its annual Black History Program on the 4th Sunday during regular service. Sylvia Kennedy is chairing the program. After service, there will be an “old timey” soul food dinner. All the foods on the menu will be home made.
Pam Harper Banks house caught fire on last Friday Night. The entire inside of the house was destroyed from smoke or water. They lost everything inside of the house, such as, clothing, furniture etc. Colby received some minor burns fighting the blaze. Remember them in your prayers.
Veteran Leroy Roberts is fighting his battle with cancer. He is in and out of the hospital. First, he was in and out of the VA, now he is in and out of St. Dominic Hospital. He is being cared for around the clock by family and friends. Remember him and his family in your prayers.
Lone Pilgrim District hosted its “Love-Fellowship Banquet and Awards Program on Last Saturday Night at Truelight Center in Walnut Grove. The Program Guides were Carthage Mayor Mary Vivians and Mrs. Jackie Ward. The welcome was done by Lone Pilgrim Dean of Christian Education and the State Dean of Christian Education, Dean Vernetta Barton. Inspiration for Women in Red was done by Sis. Ella Bradford of Lone Pilgrim M.B. Church. Inspiration for Men in Black was done by Mr. Thomas Holifield of Lone Pilgrim M.B. Church. Praise Team Singers were from New Friendship M. B. Church. The significance of a church member receiving an award was highlighted by Pastor Harold B. Kennedy of Harmony M. B, Church,
The First Presenters were Pastor Angelo Riley and wife, Tracey Riley. Mrs. Phyllis Thomas rendered the selection, “Amazing Grace.” Pastor and Wife of the Year was Rev. Harold Kennedy and wife Daphne Kennedy of Harmony M.B. Church. New Pastor of the Year was, Rev. Wesley Griffin and Wife Marilyn Griffin of Midway M.B. Church. Deacon and Wife of the Year was, Deacon James Hutchins and Wife Helen Hutchins of Bethlehem M.B. Church. Trustee and Wife of the Year was Adar Vivians and wife Betty Dodd Vivians of St. Mark M.B. Church of Carthage. Laymen of the Year was Lamell Ealy of Harmony M.B. Church. Senior Citizen of the Year was Hattie Beamon of St. Mark M.B. Church, Carthage.
The Second Presenters were Dr. Dewayne Bloodsaw and Wife, Beverly Bloodsaw of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church, Carthage. Usher of the Year was, Archie Douglas of Lone Pilgrim M.B. Church. Mother of the Year was, Rena Stribling of Pleasant Valley M.B. Church. Youth Director of the year was, Mayor Mary Vivians of First Baptist Church of Carthage. Young Adult of the Year was, Kendric McBeath of New Friendship M. B. Church of Walnut Grove. Teen of the Year was, Naylor Arnold of Providence M. B. Church. Youth of the Year was, Denique Norris of Truelight M. B. Church.
The Memorial Service was done by Mrs. Constance Ealy of Harmony M.B. Church. The tribute was given in honor of the Women Department fallen President Sis., Robbye Williams Crosby of Galilee M. B. Church and any other fallen member. Remarks was given by the Pastor of Providence M. B. Church, and Moderator of the Lone Pilgrim District, Dr. Johnny Barnes.
Verneda “Ollie” McClendon is home from the hospital and the Rehabilitation Center. Remember her and her family in your prayers.
