Fall Festival Coming
The 2019 Midway Fall Festival will be October 26th, located at Midway Park at 5835 Midway Odom Road, Forest. Festivities start at 8:45 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m. There will be a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, Midway Men Cookoff, Cake Walk, Candy, Volleyball, Free Food, Games, Prizes, Tug of war, Horseshoes, and Trunk or Treat. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the fun and fellowship. Please bring your children.
Learning with a Snack is a tutoring program at the Midway Freewill Baptist Church. After School Feeding and Tutoring Program for ages 5–15 years of age, every Monday and Thursday of each week from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. All students are welcome.
Midway Freewill Baptist Church Choir Day will be October 27 at 2:00 p.m. Come and help them give Praise in Song and Worship. They are inviting all Choirs, Praise Teams, Mimes, Praise Dancers, Groups and Soloists. They ask that you render an A and B selection. Register upon arrival.
Annie Stowers who is a board member of East Central Community College reports that she attended a board meeting on last Tuesday, October 8th on campus. She was glad to see two students from Midway, Martez Nickols and Jamayea Bloodsaw. She says she had a chance to visit with them for a while and they were at their best behaviors.
Scott Central Attendance Center played for the Jr. High Championship on last Monday Night, October 14th. Those from the community who were on the Jr. High Football team were: Marty Cox, Justin McBeath, Bryson Norman, Terrence McClendon and Malachi Beamon. Both teams are going into the championship as undefeated.
Patty Odom was entertained by her grandson Parker and daughter Patricia on last weekend. Patricia came home for Jackson State University Homecoming. Unfortunately, JSU lost to ASU.
Sympathy to the Nicks in the passing of Betty Nicks. Her services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Little Rock M. B. Church. Her interment will be in the church cemetery. Holifield Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements. Bettye Nicks is the mother of Scott County School Board Member and retired educator and farmer, Greg Nicks. His siblings are: Larry Nicks, Ethel Nicks Thomas, James Nicks, and Janet Nicks Williams.

Sympathy to the Johnson, Williams and Lewis Family in the passing of Sherby D. Lewis. She resided with her daughter in Jacksonville, Florida. Her services were last Saturday, at Sweet Water C.O.G.I.C. in Lena, Mississippi. Her interment was in the church cemetery. Holifield Funeral Home was entrusted with her arrangements.
Sympathy for the Croft Family in the passing of Clarene Croft. She was Rev. Chandler’s daughter and the mother of Rev. Shun Croft, pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church of Newton. Her arrangements were incomplete at my press deadline.
