Combined Christmas Dinner is Saturday

Rev. Wesley Griffin is pastor of Midway M.B. Church and Rev. Cory Bender is pastor of Midway Freewill Baptist Church.

Let me start off by asking for understanding on my length of tardiness in writing an article for the week.  I left on November 23 and returned on December 1st after 11:00 pm. I was dead tired by the time I reached home.

We left driving on the early morning of November 23rd going to Pearland, Texas outside of Houston. We had an early Thanksgiving dinner with my granddaughter Ashley Stowers.  We also viewed her new home.  It is a two story really beautiful home. Ashley is the daughter of my late son Rodney Stowers.

The Thanksgiving meal consisted of Popeye’s Cajun cooked turkey. Leslie cooked catfish filets, Chelsey Martin of Milwaukee made some very good cole slaw.  Ashley cooked spaghetti, I cooked a pound cake following the recipe I had gotten from Evelyn Nicks. It is a good cake. We also had sodas and white bread.

We stayed at a hotel in Galveston, Texas on that Saturday Night and and traveled to the ship dock on Sunday Morning. We were at the dock by 12:00 am.  The lines to board the ship are very long.  We sailed by 4:00 pm.

We sailed to Key West, Florida; to Freeport, Bahamas and to Nassau, Bahamas. These were some beautiful ports of call to visit. We got off the ship at each docking and explored.  In Nassau my family and I had planned spending time at Atlantis. We enjoyed the beach, swimming, peddling through the water in a pedal boat, shopping, exploring the Aquarium of the Americas, also the hotel had a casino.  Some of us just enjoyed the scenery and watching our family members.  The grandchildren were having a blast.

There were 19 of Lottie Stowers decendents that went on the trip. Her daughter, Delie Shepard; her granddaughters, Dr. Locord Wilson (her husband Tom Wilson), and Chelsey Martin of Milwaukee; her grandsons, Ryan Shepard, Marty Shepard (wife Nathalie Shepard), Leslie Ross and Eric Ross;  great grandchildren were, Tiona Wilson Alexiah Shepard, Adam Shepard, Innaius Shepard, Khaleb Shepard, Laboris Jewaun Ross, and Tomika Wilson Greer (her husband Jonte Greer); great, great grandchildren, Jayla Greer and Tamyra Greer.

Congratulations to Tamyra Greer she won on Saturday, before we left Gold Medals on the state level of Texas gymnastic events.

Junior Lewis is in the hospital in Jackson.  He is waiting on all the tests to be done before he is a candidate for surgery.  Remember him and his family in your prayers.
