Announcements: Friends of Morton Library wish to express appreciation to all individuals, businesses, artists and craftsmen who so graciously donated/provided items for the Silent Auction Fundraiser. At a later date the amount raised and the winners of the donated Gift Certificates will be revealed.

A giant Thank You goes out to “Duece” McAllister, former outstanding Morton Panther, Ole Miss Rebel, New Orleans Saint, on his generosity in providing many essential items to the MHS Panther football team with the promise of more to come, as the need arises. Giving back when one has been privileged with honor and success in their career and life is a special character building example to everyone.
New Stage Theatre will present “Into the Breeches” on September 10-14 and 17-21 at 7:30 p.m. With Matinee performances on September 15 and 22 at 2:30 p.m. In 1942, Jackson, the theatre’s director and leading man are off at war overseas and determined to press on, the ladies of the home front set out to produce an all female version of Shakespeare’s Henry V. This is a hilarious and heartwarming comedy about the way art and community reveal our boldest selves even in the darkest times. (recommended for ages 11 and up)
The 16th Annual Wing Dang Doodle Festival is scheduled for September 28 and the artistic design featuring a patriotic chicken will be on T-Shirts and posters prior to and during the event. To inquire about WDD activities or to order T-shirts, etc. call Forest Chamber of Commerce @ 601-469-4332.
Congratulations to: Mr. Lonnie Stevens on the celebration of his 97th Birthday Anniversary surrounded by family, friends and staff during the party held at the Mississippi Care Center-Morton where he now resides. God’s richest blessings throughout his life.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Chester and Shirley Sawyer report a really relaxing “getaway outing” at their Time Share Condo in Panama City, Florida recently. Their condo hosts treated them to many nice dinners, tours and an adventure of sailing during the stay.
Tito and Wilda Echiburu have returned from a wonderful 22 day trip exploring the Scandinavian Countries. Wilda shared many photos, travel books and a most interesting program on the tour while presenting the program for the Morton MHV Club. She told of the many different cultures and art.
