The Annual Independence United Methodist Church Bazaar Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, beginning with the meal at 6 p.m. and with the auction from 7 p.m.-until.
Scott County MHV Leader Training/County council will be held on Tuesday, October 29 at 1:30 p. m. in the MSU/Scott County Extension Service facility, 230 South Davis Street, Forest. The program will be on “Holiday Ideas.” Everyone is invited/encouraged to attend.
Congratulations to: Tyler Betts, Ethan Crain, Dylan Davis, Will Price and Kariana Simmons on representing East Rankin Academy in the Government Quiz Bowl in the Old Capitol Bowl. Hosted by the MS Department of Archives and History, the team finished in 1st Place and was declared the 2019 Old Capitol Bowl Champions.
To: Lindsey Price and Aryanna Stephens of Morton on being inducted into the Theta XI Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa on the campus of East Central Community college. To qualify for Phi Theta Kappa a student must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework that may be applied to an associate degree and must have a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Sympathy to the families of: Rodney Holmes, Margie Marie Hynes Jones Franklin, Michael Joseph Mouton, Henry Lee Bennett, Douglas C. Windham, Jeffery Edwards Woods, Ada Sue McCombs, Bobbie Thrash Gibson, to Janell Laseter in the death of her cousin Donald Herron of Texas (formerly of Hattiesburg) and Hansel Smith.
Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Florence Measells reports that four generations of her family had a fantastic trip to Disney World, including Florence, her daughter Donna Guillot and spouse Greg, Granddaughter Amanda Smith and her spouse Luke their children (greatgrands) Landry and Ebbie plus Greg’s mother. Their accommodations at the Top Century Resort provided all kinds of amenities and adventures imagined. While touring/experiencing six of the Disney Parks attractions they were more than amazed and entertained to the point that Florence wasn’t able to share a favorite.
