Announcements: Morton Public Library schedule for August:  Preschool Story Time-Every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.(this months themes are-August 14 “Firefighters”, August 21 “The Lorax”, August 28 “Unicorns.” Kindergarten - 6th Grade “Make Your Own Comic Book” on Thursday, August 23 a at 5:00 p.m. Family Night is Thursday, August 9, a back to school movie at 4:00 p.m. showing “Middle School the Worst Years of MY Life” (produced by CBS Studios, rating PG, run time is 1 hour and 32 minutes) snacks will be provided.

Don’t forget to purchase your ticket for the Excel Hamburger Plate Fundraiser featuring a burger (and all trimmings), coleslaw, baked beans, cookie and beverage.  The “Dine In-Take Out” meal is $6 per plate, to be served on Thursday, August 16 from10:30-12 noon.

Congratulations to: Constance Slaughter-Harvey on being recognized by the Mississippi Bar with its Lifetime Achievement Award at the Bar’s 2018 Meeting. This award is reserved for those who have devoted service to the public, profession and the administration of justice over the span of a professional career. Personal sincere accolades to this fellow columnist providing news for the local publications.

To: Bobbie Barnes and Alyssa Horton on receiving their High School Equivalency Diplomas at ECCC, presented by East Central Community College president, Dr. Billy Stewart during the Graduation Ceremony held in the Vickers Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the Decatur campus.
