Residents of Scott County are invited/encouraged to participate in the Homemakers Fair sponsored by the Scott county Homemaker Volunteers. Criteria sheets for eligible entries may be picked up at the Scott County Extension Service office, 230 South Davis Street, Forest. Entries must be submitted by Monday, September 10 during office hours. Viewing of entries will be held on Tuesday, September 11, beginning at 11:00.
You are invited to attend the Annual “Lunch and Learn” event at the MSU/Scott County Extension Service facility, 230 south Davis Street, Forest on Tuesday, September 11. The meal to be served at 12 noon is free but plans to attend must be made by calling 601-469-4241 by September 5. The program will be presented by Stephanie Tatum owner of Wizards of Arts and Crafts in a demonstration of Sublimation.
It has been reported that acts of vandalism were discovered at the Brasell Cemetery site on Morton Marathon Road. Gate posts at both the West and East entrances were stolen. Anyone with information concerning the person/persons responsible for this crime, please report to local authorities.
Congratulations to: Zachary Irby on winning Overall State Champion in Shotgun in the State 4-H Competition and will advance to the National 4-H competition to be held in Grand Island, Nebraska. He has , also, won the current title for State Champion in 4-H Cookout. He is a resident of Morton and is the son of Paul and Lynn Irby.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Tito Echiburu enjoyed a great opportunity to see some of the “Best of the Best” tennis players during a trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, recently. When receiving the invitation to attend the Western and Southern Tennis Tournament he and flew there and back aboard the private plane with a friend/owner of the plane. Needless to say he reports enjoying the entire experience.
Bobbie Hodges recently hosted Kathy Bratvold of Springfield, Missouri and Gail Melendy of Seabring, Florida in her home for a “sisters visit.” They enjoyed working together and taking drives round and about familiar local family sites.
Kathy Warren attended the MSU-MHV State meeting via Video Conference held at the Scott County Extension service facility.
Linda Crotwell and Ann Rector enjoyed a “'Ladies Day” at the Huntsville Church of Christ near French Camp last Saturday. The “Day” event was a “Hospitality Tea” with the theme “Esteeming Each Other”. Teresa Hampton of Siwell Road Congregation was the speaker. Each table was decorated with fresh flowers, lace and pearls. The hostesses were attired in their best finery and hats or fascinators. Even the desserts were in the shape of hats.
Teresa Lovett is now a resident of Tupelo, only about 10 minutes from her daughter Lynn Talent and her family. She delights in being able to attend all of grandson Ben’s programs and sports events. Her son, John Myer, is “keeping the home fires burning” at their Morton residence.
