Announcements: A retirement celebration for Sister Rita Goedken will be held on Saturday, December 8th from 2-4 p.m. She has served as the first/only Program Coordinator at Excel Community-Learning Center in Morton since September 2008. Requests are that no gifts be designated for Sister Rita but donations to the programs (educational, workshops, etc.) provided by Excel will be appreciated.
The Cantata “Peace” will be presented by First Baptist Church of Morton on the same evening (Saturday, December 8) at 6 p. m.
Canned Food for Christmas to benefit the Carlisle Crisis Center Food Bank serving Scott County is now in progress. Drop off locations are Forest Baptist Church, Forest United Methodist Church, Bank of Forest, Community Bank and Forest City Hall.
We Care Missions Food Distribution for December Friday, December 14 and Friday, December 21 at Fellowship Hall of Morton UMC, 29 Church Street from 10 a.m.-12 noon.
Forest Public Library and Forest Community Arts will host a Book signing for Forest native, Jan Risher on Sunday, December 2 from 2-4 p.m. featuring her book “Looking for Stars from Old Algiers and Other Long Stories Short.” The daughter of Gary and Nelda Risher, she now resides in Lafayette, Louisiana. A reception with refreshments will be served.
Congratulations to: Randy and Pat Dilley on being named 2018 Citizens of the Year for the City of Forest. They will be honored with a reception on Thursday, November 29 in the City Gallery at Colbert Commons from 3:30-5 p.m. and will lead the 2018 Forest Christmas Parade on Friday, November 30, beginning at 6 p.m.
