Morton MHV Club will meet at Morton Public Library for the May meeting on Wednesday, May 1 at 1 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
Don’t forget to purchase tickets to the Annual City of Morton Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Friday, May 3. Tickets are $5. The meal and prayers for the community, government (local, state, national) delivered by various pastors and religious leaders in the area will begin at 7 a.m. at the Morton Activity Center, Farris Park.
The deadline for high school seniors to apply for the S. E. Lackey Hospital auxiliary $1,000 Scholarship is May 18. This opportunity is offered to those planning on nursing as a college major. Congratulations to: Ethan Crain, named First Dean’s Finalist at the Mississippi State Robotics Challenge. A senior at East Rankin Academy, Ethan has earned the opportunity to travel to the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championship in Houston, Texas to become a Dean’s List Winner.
To: Roti Ware, graduate of MHS now a sophomore at ECCC as a member of the Warriors basketball team has been named to the National Junior/Community College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Honorable Mention All-American. He has also been recognized as a member of the NJCAA All-Region 23 Team and First team on the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College All-South Division.
To: Madyson Warren, senior at Newton County High School on winning the 2019 School Talent Competition. She won this title two consecutive years. Madyson is the daughter of Brent (MHS Grad) and Tracy Warren and the granddaughter of Kathy Warren and the late Hershel Warren.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: A delicious meal, awards and gifts were abundant during the Annual Volunteer Honors Dinner given by Excel Community and Learning Center in recognition of the many hours of volunteer services given by individuals in the area.
Bro. Gary Glazier, Cindy and Abigail were the delighted hosts of their children Austin and Laura and their twin daughters, Bailey and Landry. While in town they were welcomed by the congregation at Morton UMC.
Cindy Glazier, pastor of Emanuel UMC, Jackson delivered the final Lenten Luncheon for the 2019 Lenten Season at Morton UMC on Wednesday. Reports are that her message and all others prior were well attended and provided great inspiration to the community during this Holy Season.
Melvin, Frisky and Brian Roland were extremely happy to have their daughter/sister in town for an extended visit for the first time in more than a year. While in town she attended church services at Independence UMC a Lenten Lunch at her home church (Morton UMC), a Capital Area Meeting in Raymond with the Morton MHV members, Super Bulldog Weekend at MSU (dodging tornados is a safe place) and dining out with family and a friend. Travel blessings were with her during a long and trying flight from her home in Everett, Washington and her return flight, delayed for a day, all due to the dangerous weather conditions.
