New Year New Resolutions
New Year. Old Habits — New Habits. Watch your thoughts, they become your words; Watch your words, they become your actions; Watch your actions, they become your habits; Watch your habits, they become your character. Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.
I noticed on the news this week a woman who had been living illegally in the U.S. for 30 years was deported. The news media was saying her son was an officer in our military and they should not have made her leave. My question is, why did she not get legal during those 30 years?
Hello, we have laws concerning citizenship! People object to illegals being sent back and children having to be without that parent. Our Military personnel have to leave their children and people who are incarcerated leave their children, do we hear about any of those children?
Isn’t it weird that in America, our flag and our culture offends so many people, but our benefits don’t?
NBC anchor endorses letter denigrating those who believe in “Fairy Tales” such as Noah’s Ark! It’s time we dealt with your religious intolerance. On Sunday’s Meet the Press NBC Anchor, Chuck Todd, read and endorsed a letter claiming that supporters of Donald Trump “want to be lied to” since they believe in Fairy Tales such as Noah’s Ark.
(Noah’s Ark is described as a historical event in the Torah Genesis 6:9, Jesus in Matthew 24:39 and 1st Peter 3:20 - 2nd Peter 2:5 believed in its historicity as well. And Muslims find it in the Qur’an 29:14&15.
The counter cultural way to be blessed Jesus taught us, “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account, Matthew 5:11. Notice that our Lord says when, not if!
I am so happy that television has a remote and the off button is so easy to click off!
One reader called and told me of a very unhappy experience he had at a Brandon car dealership’s repair shop. He had work done, at a high cost and it was “supposedly warranted. After a short vacation, his car was making a pretty loud noise. He went back to dealership, with his paid ticket, and they denied replacing items, that were worn out but were listed on his ticket. His advise to all, carry a bag and get all old parts before you pay your bill!
Bill Gates said, “There is going to be a vital epidemic that’s going to kill 60 million people in the next decade and there is no cure for it.” As Paul Harvey used to say, it will be interesting when he tells the “rest of the story!”
“Apparently there are two types of flu. The harmless one that women and children get and the ‘Near Death’ version that men get!”
(From Newsbreak.com). A Michigan County threatens to “Demolish 14 Amish homes unless they give up their beliefs and upgrade their homes.” (One reader replied) “What excuse does the state have to steal your land? The Amish use septic tanks and a hand pump well. How else does one get water without electricity? The Amish are hard working people so they live off the electric grid. They pay their taxes and if their religion bothers you, big deal! You have to be careful how you vote because it may effect your freedom next. Today the Amish — tomorrow someone else!” I know firsthand about Amish people as my late husband and I made several trips to Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania just to observe them. We found them to be resourceful, hardworking and easy to talk to. They will not be connected to any utilities, but have stand alone things like washing machines, refrigerators, generators, conveyors and tractors that don’t move as they use their power to send power to other equipment.
They use diesel fuel and gasoline to power many of the above items. It is common to see chicken houses, like we have in our area, powered by diesel generators. Their property is spotless, and they even have flowers planted around their barns. Their crops are bountiful and are planted and gathered with draft horses, either Belgian or Percheron. Some are craftsmen and hire vehicles to transport them to work.
I admire their work ethic and staying true to their religious customs. I hope no one ever tries to change their customs and that they are allowed to continue on with their religious practices.

A hilarious scene took place at a local store in their Meat Department this past week, with a young employee and my daughter, Janet Culpepper. She asked this employee where she could find a whole chicken. He told her he didn’t know what she was talking about. She told him to look at the packages of chicken breast, legs and thighs and get her the whole bird and not just those parts. He told her they didn’t have anything like that.
She told him, when he was young and at his grandmother’s house, and she went out in the yard, picked up a chicken, wrung its neck and dressed it, that was a whole chicken. He told her they didn’t have anything like that. She told him to go back and find her a whole bird!
In a few minutes a female worker came out to help her. She asked this person to get her a whole chicken. This worker told her they didn’t have it. Just then the young employee came out, with a whole chicken palmed and high up in the air shouting, “I found one!” She then asked him if he would get her some buttermilk as there was none in the cooler. He told her, “I don’t work in that department!”
Have a God blessed week and share it with others who need uplifting!
