COVID#19 news gone in a flash!
I have been wishing something else would be on the news! Never, in my wildest dreams would I have thought it would be the horrific stories of riots and vandalism that’s taking place in our nation! I’ve always heard, “be careful what you wish for’ and now I know the meaning of that old saying! “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars, darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” (Martin Luther King). Not all blacks are criminals — not all whites are racist — not all cops are bad; ignorance comes in all colors!
Common sense is a flower that does not grow in everyone’s garden!
EBC NEWS: It is a pleasure to report that church has opened up! This was second Sunday that a “safe in place” message has been delivered. Many of us Senior members have not returned as we are watching the Scott County Covid#19 numbers before we venture out. It was great to see that our county has been taken out from the “Hot Spot” Counts!
Prayer Concerns: Marsha Hardin, Hazel Squires, Linda Allgood, Jim Jeffries, Mark Risher, Raymond Hall and four week old Thatcher Hardin. Our sincere sympathy to the families of Junior Hammons and Shirley Moore Emmons in their loss of loved ones.
Have you noticed, since the pandemic, that the phone, Robocalls, have pretty much gone away? A new Anti-Robocall measure was signed into law in January 2020. The measure imposed fines as much as $10,000 per call to those who intentionally violate FCC rules against abusive calls. Certain Robocalls are legal, such as legitimate charities and updates about school closures. Robocalls related to political campaigns vary, depending on how they are delivered. Example, they may not be directed to mobile phones without the recipient’s prior consent. I wish the constant calls about car warranties about to expire, would vanish forever! However, I still get at least two every week!
“In 1981 a pediatrician saved the life of a 3.2 pound premature baby boy by working around the clock and beating the odds to stabilize him. In 2011, the same pediatrician was pinned inside a burning vehicle, after a car collision, but was saved by a paramedic — who turned out to be the premature baby boy he saved 30 years earlier. Tell me God doesn’t have a plan!”
“Despite being homeless, a Florida black teen became the top student in his graduating class. “It means a lot and gives me a sense of all I’ve done and all I have accomplished, It was worth it!” said Martin Folsom.
“An elderly man, in Florida, had owned a family farm for several years. He had a large pond in the back, fixed up nicely: Picnic tables, a volleyball court and some apples and peach trees. The pond was properly shaped and fixed for swimming. One evening the old farmer decided to go down by the pond and look it over, as he hadn’t been down there in a while, he grabbed a five gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.
As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing, with glee. As he came closer, he saw a bunch of women skinny dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence, they immediately went to the deep end. One of the women shouted, “We’re not coming out until you leave.” The old man frowned and said, “I didn’t come down here to watch you women swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked!” Holding the bucket up he said, “I’m here to feed the alligator!”
A Promise from God: “If I ever shut up Heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land,”. (2.Chronicles: 13-14)
Have a God blessed week!
