Surprising encounter in the airport
Janet and Harry Culpepper accompanied by their children, Jana Mayatt, Stephanie Roberts (her sons Harrison and Catcher), Becky Faulk, Brooke Crenshaw, Benjamin and wife, Katie Culpepper flew to Oregon recently. They went to visit their other daughter, Jessica, husband, Georg and their children, Piper, Presley, Payton and Parker Adelt in Sisters, Oregon. They left home with bright sunny skies, rather warm weather. They stepped off the plane to cold and Snow and rather treacherous driving on the roads. They reported a great time of being all together as the last time was 17 years ago.
During a lengthy layover they noticed a passenger in the same waiting area that was wearing a rather large ring — a Super Bowl Championship ring. On looking closer they recognized that it was Jerry Rice. (For you that are not knowledgable about football). Jerry Lee Rice is a “Hall of Fam”, former American football wide receiver who played 20 season’s in the National Football League, primarily with the San Francisco 49ers (player #80) born in Starkville, Ms.
Jerry was very down to earth in talking with Culpepper family and was nice enough to let those that wanted, have a picture with him. Harry discussed his time when he played with Ms. Valley State with teammate, Willie Totten, Quarterback and Coach Archie Cooley. C
oach Cooley said that Jerry Rice could catch a BB cold in a closet. Coach Cooley called his players “Satellite Express.” Harry said Jerry's hands were like a baseball glove. Janet invited him to stop in to visit with them if he is ever down in our area. He said the offer of southern fried chicken, turnip greens and cornbread sounded good and he just might take them up on that sometime.

Prayer needs: Leon Thrash, Johnny Money, Harmon Latham, Nancy Myers and unspoken request. Sincere sympathy to the family of David Parks in the loss of their loved one.
My family that lost their home in Santa Rosa, Ca, have recovered their “fireproof saf”. The locksmith didn’t offer much hopes on contents. He was wrong!
Their important papers were still in good shape with only a corner or two slightly damaged and cash unharmed. The first bank they carried the money to get an exchange refused to take it until it could be sanitized. The second bank did’'t have a problem exchanging it. Needless to say, they now have a rented box at bank!
They still do not have electricity restored to their area. Their grape vineyard and vegetable garden did not have any damage. They picked some ripe tomatoes that were good. The 65 mile hour wind kept the fire off the ground. They realize they were God blessed to get away safe.
A wonderful way to turn a wedding dress into something very useful, when you are ready to part with it is - make “Angel Gowns” for babies that did make it home from the hospital. One dress allows as many as 17 gowns to be made and donated to hospitals.
“I believe that my house is haunted! Every time I look in my mirror a crazy old lady stands in front of me so I ca’t see my reflection.”
Oldtimers says, “I don’t think we get smarter as we get older. We just run out of stupid things to do!”
Hints: put sugar on a burned tongue, to clean dishwasher run regular cycle with a couple packs of Kool Aid in it; Coca Cola will remove grease from cement.
Have a God blessed week and share His love with others!
