Labor Day Weekend
We have a tradition of meeting my nephew Steve Gordy, of Harbor Hill, Fl.,at Gulf Shores, Al and this year we went a little earlier than normal. Janet and Harry Culpepper went down on Thursday afternoon and said it was a ghost town. By Saturday afternoon, when daughter Pam and myself arrived, the outlet mall, in Foley, was beginning to get pretty busy and traffic was pretty heavy.
The beaches quickly got active even with thunder, lightening, rain and red flags flying. Parents and their kids stayed in the water until the safety patrol told them to get out. We watched from our condo’s windows and wondered what these parents were thinking! Down there a storm quickly appears and just as quickly clears up.
We drove over to Pensacola, Fl. to Joe Patti’s Seafood Store. This is one of the largest fresh seafood businesses I have every been in as they boast of having anything you want. This was my third time to be there and each time it was standing room only. It had to be close to 75 people coming and going, looking and shopping. They ship to any location as well. There is a Restaurant close by called Patti’s and next time I plan to go there to eat.
Our visit was cut a little short when the weather news predicted storms for Monday afternoon. The beach still had people on it Monday morning. The traffic was not heavy for us getting out and that was a nice treat!

Has a separation of lower brain area and decision to be made on treating it next week.), Harry Culpepper, Jeanette Barrett Carpenter, Geraldine Clark Hall, Truman Bell, Donna Riser, Graden Crimm, Carolyn May Haralson, Jeanie Harrison, Jean Haralson and baby Jo Jo O’Donnel, grandson of Billy and Joyce Everett, (he is almost to the magic number of 5 lbs, but has a health hurdle to overcome, before going home.)
Sincere sympathy to the families of Judy Walsh (Kat Riser’s Mother) Will Myers family and Will Hill family (Will Hill was from Stringer, relative of Bro. Kerry and Tina. (He was 19 years old and was accidentally shot Saturday night.) Our heartfelt sympathies to these families who have lost their loved ones.
Alligator season has ended in our state. My grandson, Lee, Holly and Caden Thompson, along with some friends, are big in this sport. This season Lee’s 17 year old son, Caden, managed to get a gator that was 12 foot 5 inches at approximately 650 lbs. They will be enjoying the meat and telling about their experiences of the season.
“This world is full of genuine nice and kind people. If you cannot find one, be one! One small act of kindness goes farther than you think.”
“MY FORGETTER — My forgetter is better, but my rememberer is broke. To you that may seem funny but to me, that’s no joke. For when I am ‘here’ I’m wondering if I should be ‘there’ and when I try to think it through, I haven’t got a prayer! Often times I walk in a room, say, ‘what am I here for?’ I wrack my brain, but all in vain. A zero is my score.
“At times I put something away where it is safe, but, gee! The person it is safest from is generally me! When shopping I may see someone, say ‘Hi’ and have a chat. Then when that person walks away, I ask myself ‘who was that?’
“Yes, my forgetter is getting better, while my rememberer is broke. It’s driving me crazy and that’s no Joke!”
I think people of all ages can relate to some part of this rhyme!
Have a blessed day and share it with others.
