Congratulations to all graduates!
This next week or so is going to be such a busy time for graduates and their families. I’m certain many are going to be sad to be parting with classmates and teachers. Parents sad to be losing sons and daughters as they start on their journey towards adulthood. It will never be the same, but as a mother bird let’s her chicks leave her nest, parents have let their child test their wings.
EBC will have all graduates, including Kindergarten, High School and College, be recognized at 11 AM services next Sunday (5/19). At 6 PM a reception will be held in the Family Life Center to honor High School Graduates for 2019; Following that service our youth will attend Late Night at Harperville. The Youth will be working the concession stand at Hollingsworth Auction on Saturday (5/18). (This is their fund- raiser for Summer Camp). Donations still accepted of canned drinks and bottled water!
We appreciated Representative Randy Rushing coming to our Senior Luncheon this past Friday. He gave us lots of information about the previous session of the State Legislature. It is easy for us to judge what they should have or should not have done in that session. When you understand the reasoning and lack of funding in these processes, it gives you a different prospective on matters.
Prayer needs: Emily Williams, Danny Williams, Parker Mangum and unspoken request. Sympathy to the families of John Eley Warren and Vernoy Reynolds in the loss of their loved one.
This is a true story. A Minister was having lunch with his wife and reached to get the ketchup but actually picked up his red water glass! He proceeded to pour the ice water over his French fries! His wife asked him the obvious question: “Why did you do that?” He gave the obvious answer, “I don’t know, I wasn’t paying attention.” What made matters worse was when the waiter came over to help clean up the mess. He said, I will bring you another glass of water. Do you want it in a sippy cup? But it even got worse when he brought the check to their table. “Would you like a to-go cup?” He then looked at the man and said, “so you could spill it in the car.” The Minister said, “it was only by the grace of God that I smiled and gave him a tip.” (Not to sure I could have given him a smile and tip!)
On Mother’s Day I had to look back on my Mother’s life and wonder how she and my Dad could raise five children on such meager finances? They had to be really resourceful in every way! My Mother had the right idea when she would say she needed a “Magic Button” to push. Now we have some of those “Magic Buttons” that make our lives easier! However, where are those late afternoons that we used to sit on the porch, after supper, and enjoy being a family?
My curfew was lightening bugs. My parents didn’t call my cell, they yelled my name. I played outside, not on line. If I didn’t eat what my Mom cooked, I didn’t eat. Was any one else raised that way?
News flash! A man sues McDonalds for still being badly depressed after eating a Happy Meal (Anyone else reached that age where you gain weight if you breathe?)
“All of us, are like sheep, have Strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own desires. Yet, the Lord laid on Him the sins of us all!”
Choose to live in joy!
Life goes by in the blink of an eye. It’s too short to live upset, angry, resentful or ungrateful. If you look for the good, you’ll find it.
Choose to be happy, to be at peace. Decide each day is going to be a great day, grab the best of it. Refuse to let negative thoughts take root in your mind and refuse to let negative people and situations drag you down.
Trust your journey and know that if you make a mistake, it’s o.k. See it as a lesson learned and move forward.
Spend less time worrying and more time being grateful to those who love you and all of life’s goodness.
Have a God Blessed Week!
