Sylvester UMC will host it’s Black History Program on February 17 and Union Grove UMC will host its Black History Program on February 24. Please come out and join us in celebrating Black History with information regarding Black inventors, Black politicians and Black History of our community.
Sylvester UMC will host a Movie Night at the church. It will begin at 3:00 p.m. It is open to the public, so please come out and enjoy. Also, Sylvester will have Senior Citizen Bingo on Feb. 16 at 12 noon. Again, these events are open to the public.
We are in the planning stage for The Great American Cleanup that will be held in March in the Steele and Hillsboro Community. We had a wonderful turnout last year and would like to get people involved this year. If you would like to volunteer your time or donate items, please give me a call at 601-507-9567. This is a great community event that helps keep our community looking great.
As an effort to make good on my effort to do better this year than last year. I want to get more involved in community events and provide helpful information to my community and others. To learn more about what’s happening in Scott County, I urge you to attend one of the Board of Supervisors meeting. According to the website, the meetings are held on the first Monday of each month unless otherwise noted and are open to the public. I think this is a great opportunity to get involved. Also, according to the website, if you would like to bring an issue to the Board, you must notify the board the Wednesday to before the Monday meeting.
Don’t forget Union Grove and Sylvester UMC has church every Sunday. 1st and 3rd at Sylvester and 2nd and 4th at Union Grove. Sunday School is at each church, each Sunday starting at 9:30. We have Bible Class each Wednesday, alternating Churhces, this month is at Union Grove. We also have Daytime Bible Study every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at Sylvester starting at 1 p.m. Health and Wellness Ministry Classes are held on Monday and Thursday starting at 6 p.m. You are welcomed to come out and fellowship with us.
