Back to School
Last week was the start of the new school year at all Scott County schools. All teachers returned on Monday and the first day of school for students was Thursday.
I took a break from this column as I was extremely busy over the summer break. I took a cruise with my husband, Greg, to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary and had some short visits with my children and grandchildren. I was also busy working on home projects, the biggest of which was ripping out four rooms of carpet and replacing it with flooring. It was a productive but exhausting summer and I’m glad to be back at school!
We are very lucky to have some former administrators, teachers, and students return to Scott Central this year. Mr. Darrin Gray has returned to Scott Central as our High School Principal and basketball coach. Rev. Walter Patrick has also returned to the classroom at Scott Central, along with two of my former students, who are now teachers and coaches, Ms. Keanna Wash and Ms. Kelcia Bufkin. We also have several other new teachers, coaches and administrators which we are excited to welcome to Scott Central and we look forward to the contributions they can bring to our school this year.
We already have volleyball games starting this week and football games will begin later this month. We have set high goals and expectations for our entire school, from our new pre-k class to our future Class of 2023 graduates. Our theme is #NextLevelChallenge and we are excited for the opportunity to continue to grow and improve and make our school the very best that it can be.
