Attend Church
Since the beginning of Christianity, attending church is not only important, but necessary for the existence and growth of the church. In the times of the apostles, the followers of Christ were called disciples, and they were apprentices of the teachings of Christ that the apostles dedicated themselves to imparting. The population observed that the group was growing and began to call them Christians. That means that Christians gather to praise God, be instructed in the Word and that today they usually attend a place that we call a temple. This implies the existence of a Church where its members normally grow spiritually and bear witness to their faith.
Attending a church is part of the will expressed by God and that we should fulfill; “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV
In many churches today attendance has been declining, and that means that some Christians are acquiring habits that harm their churches. Despite being saved, their faith is not growing and they are forgetting the promises to Christ.
The church is a developing body and its life depends on all its parts functioning well. “For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do no belong to the body,” that would make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part pf the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.” 1 Corinthians 12: 14-20 ESV
The church is the place where we love each other. “No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.” 1 John 4:12 ESV
The church is the place where we stimulate ourselves by sharing good works, and we pray for those who are experiencing difficult times, etc. It is in the church where we find comfort and encouragement. “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4: 32 ESV
We can give many reasons why attending church is justified and necessary, since it should be a regular activity in our lives.
May God bless you.
