Divine Lessons
Divine lessons are found in the Holy Scriptures and were all inspired by God. All those who wrote them in the Bible were chosen by our heavenly Father, making them transmit His lesson to humanity. They lead us to a direct encounter with the word of God that, if we understand it as we should, will change our lives to levels of peace, wisdom and an optimism that the mundane cannot do. “Every one who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25 ESV
Christ is teaching us that it is not enough to recognize Him in words but our lives must also show works that are in accordance with what we have learned from His word. Christians have the joy of knowing that He is our Lord and, we can demonstrate it, by leading a holy life where love for one another is a palpable fruit of the fact that we have studied divine lessons. It means that we try to live away from sin by following the commandments, otherwise we are aware that with the mundane we are living in something built on sand with empty notions of life, which will easily give way to the pure contrariety of the world. Of course that is easy for us because we live in a world full of communications that reach us through multiple means and in which we must take care of ourselves.
It is very important for believers to read and understand the Word frequently. Constant encounters with God’s lessons produce gradual transformations in us in our way of thinking and acting, and evidently, this leads us to live in harmony with God Himself. This whole process depends on each person, and it is usually slow for some or faster for others, however, everyone should pray and give thanks to the Lord. The reading of the Word should be carried out with great attention, and most likely we should read the text several times until we have really understood it. In specialized stores you can find various study Bibles, which are very helpful if they have been commented on by well-known pastors. In general, try to understand it personally and only go for a consultation if it has been very difficult to understand.
Besides reading, we should also pray. Let us not be intimidated in getting closer to God. In all of this, there is no time limit for praying, but rather our way of living can take us years to achieve high levels of consecration to the Lord, so the important thing is to study and understand divine lessons and not abandon them.
We can pray, “Father, open the ears of my heart. Give me faith to believe and realize that I am capable of hearing you. Teach me to distance myself from the confusions that are inherent to the sinful world.”
May God bless us.
