Midway M. B. Church will celebrate its First Black Historical Banquet on February 22, at 6:00 pm. There are many far and near who have been contacted to be a part of this historical program. If you or your ancestors were born in Midway, married someone from Midway or work for the good of Midway please attend this Banquet. Did you know: The first brick house built in Midway is still standing and lived in. The original owner lived in the house until they were no longer able to live there independently. Do you know the funeral home owner who went to school at Scott Central Attendance Center? Do you know a certified Master Degree Chemist that lives in Midway?
PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL PROFILES AND PICTURES ARE EMAILED TO ME AS A WORD DOCUMENT FOR PRINTING BY FRIDAY. My email address is at the bottom of this column.
Sylvia Kennedy contributed Black History Tidbit enlightening us about the role of the MTA (Mississippi Teachers Association). How the teachers taught the children how to read, write and think.
The pastor enlightened the Tidbits expressing that for every great fellow, there was a significant teacher who helped them learn how to strive forward in this world. Teachers teach all things such as mathematicians, historians, coaches, technology instructors, etc. Every aspect of life there is a teacher. I am told a hard teacher is a good teacher. You will learn more under their leadership. The more that is required, the more you learn.
