There will be a Youth Empowerment Summit and they are calling all youth from Middle School to High School at Sweeten Water Life Center on 1498 Ealy Road in Lena, MS 39094. Saturday, August 5 at 5:30-8:00pm They will be addressing issues like Poverty, Violence, Racism, Education, Social Justice and much more. On Saturday there will be Woke Sessions, Fun Activities, DJ and Live Entertainment, Free Food and Drinks and Cooling Stations.
Sunday, August 6th at 11:00 am Youth Speaking Truth to Power with Special invited guest. Program Coordinator is Mrs. Doris Henson in partnership with Community Outreach Sponsors, Sweeten Water Program and The Youth Summit Planning Committee. On last Sunday I got the opportunity to meet the father of LeAnna Roberts of Tuscaloosa, AL. LeAnna made national news when she graduated from The University of Alabama summa cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in May at the age of 16 and to continue studying at UA to earn her MBA through the STEM path to the MBA program. Her father happen to be Ida Nichols son a relative of mine. You can succeed if you want to.
The 60th Century Family reunion will be held June 21-23, 2024 in Memphis, Tennessee next year. As I learn more I will let you know.
August 5, 2023 is the E. T. Hawkins Annual Class Reunion. This year it will be held at Reach One on One, Highway 501 South Forest.
