To: Clara Grace Rogers MHS student chosen to be a member of the Mississippi All State Choir.
To: Harry Strohm on his selection by sponsor, Priority Bank, as the Citizen of the Month. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in accounting. The owner of Strohm and Associates he and his wife Sarah moved to Morton in 2003 and became active supporters of many various community worship and service organizations. Harry is a proud veteran, having served in Vietnam as part of the Army Security System.
To: Harry Strohm on his assistance in establishing “The Longleaf Trail Birthday Challenge” where he participates in the Annual Challenge to race miles equal to the participants age. The 2025 trail was located along the beautiful railroad track in Prentiss, now a very nice walking/running trail. Not only did he meet the 80 Year Challenge but completed 107 miles. Remarkable, Harry!
To: Those Morton MHV Club members winning ribbon awards at the annual Home Makers Fair featuring food preservation, art and crafts. Winners in the food preservation category were Sarah Huff-1st place Blue-vegetable and jelly; Judy Stegall 1st place Blue 4 vegetable and 2 Jellies/jams also Overall Sweepstakes in art/craft Framed Beaded Decoration and red Photo; Helen Watkins 1st place in art/craft Framed Beaded Decoration; Gail Griffin-Blue art Framed Painting on wood and 3rd place Red miscellaneous Seasonal Decoration-autumn; Florence Measells-Blue miscellaneous Holiday Decoration-Halloween and Red Seasonal Decoration Christmas; Frisky Roland 3rd Red Seasonal Decoration Autumn.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Morton MHV Club members attended the Annual Lunch and Learn event at the MSU/Scott County Extension Service facility. A delicious meal provided by Forest Community Arts, Inc. and Scott County Council was served by County MHV Staff prior to the program sponsored by Forest Community Arts. Amanda Blakeney, Simpson County Agent, presented a program/recipes and demonstration for the preparation of both liquid and dry laundry detergent using inexpensive ingredients found in most discount stores. Those members present were Diane Kirk, Florence Measells, Frisky Roland, Gail Griffin, Helen Watkins, Judy Stegall, Kathy Warren, Sarah Huff, Sharon Smith, and Sig Miles.
Morton MHV Club Activities-August
Members of Morton MHV attended both Club meeting and Leader Training, Scott County Forestry Association meeting, donated to and volunteered at Brittany’s Closet Memorial give away, supported Morton Public Library and the Care Pantry there, We Care Thrift Shop, donated to the Upward Bound Mentoring Program for youth and collected and redeemed Fairway Food receipts for the club treasury.
