Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Morton MHV Club members toured Quiet Waters Camp in Canton on Tuesday, September 30 for a Community Service project with hosts Jerry and Sig Miles, Brian and Frisky Roland. Brought to the club’s attention by member Ruby Lucroy it was discovered that the camp serves families impacted by disability and offers retreats for spiritual growth, respite for rest and restoration through relational ministries and Biblical studies. Following the inspiring story of the dream, purchase of the property, establishment of the camp and facilities the Executive Director, Martie Kwasny, served a delicious salad meal for lunch. This was a most inspiring experience that will lead to continued support for the ministry.
The Scott County Forestry Association members attended the annual Dinner Banquet held at Roosevelt State Park on Tuesday evening, September 30. The delicious meal catered by Ann Cahoon was enjoyed by all attendees. An interesting program was presented by state Forester, Riley Jones on the use of drones in protecting our forest lands. A slide presentation showing the advantage of scanning large plots of timberland and the images it provides was of great interest. He also passed a drone to members to observe the size and model being used.
Following the meal and program a business meeting to nominate and elect the 2026 slate of officers and board members completed the event.
