Scott County MHV Annual Cultural Arts Exhibits will be accepted for judging/display on Monday, March 30 (open to MHV members Only). They will be open to public viewing during prior to and during Leader Training on Tuesday, March 31 at the MSU/ScottCounty Extension Service facility. Meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is invited/encouraged to attend.
The final We Care Missions Food Distribution in March is scheduled for Friday, March 27 at Morton UMC 28 Second Street beginning at 9 a.m.
The We Care Missions Thrift Shop will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 28.
Events Morton Public Library: Thursday, March 19-Starting Early Vegetables with the Scott County Master Gardeners at 1 p.m. and Monday, March 23-Pictures with the Easter Bunny (grab bags available for kids as long as supplies last).
Scott County Forestry Association meeting on Tuesday, March 26 will include a meal and discussion on forestry related income taxes presented by Curtis Vanderschaff. those planning to attend must call 601-469-4241 for reservations.
Congratulations to: Avonte Reese, Member of Morton Panther’s 2026 District 4-A State Championship Team. He was named MVP and Academic Scholar Athlete of the season.
To: Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) $5,000 Allie Carruth Memorial Scholarship recipient, MHS student senior, Sarah Gaspar. Those eligible to receive this financial assistance were required to write an essay on the importance of organ, eye, tissue donations and how it makes a difference in life quality for recipients of donations. Some reported on how they or their family/friend has benefitted from the sacrifice of donors.
To: Some special February Birthday Anniversary celebrants: Jason Jimenez 7 years on Wednesday, March, 4 celebrating with family members, friends, guests during the Lenten Lunch at Morton UMC. A wide shy smile spread over his face during the singing of Happy Birthday and presentation of gifts.
To: Ann Rector 95th, Inez Magee 92nd and Kyle Roland Sybil 65th. Each of these celebrated with various parties and outings with family members and friends. Kyle and husband Terry of Everett, Washington, both with March birthdays celebrated in Hawaii.
