Forest man charged with capital murder
The Forest Police Department announced Monday the arrest of Paul Kenyardo Ringo, age 50, and Christopher Williams, age 50, of Forest Mississippi, in connection with the death of Willie Shepard on December 24, 2025.

Book signing scheduled Oct. 16 for Johnston’s ‘The Bearcat Way’

A Forest native who chronicled events while he was a high school student in the late 1960s and early 1970s will hold a book signing Thursday, Oct. 16. The special event will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Foothills Restaurant on Hwy. 35 South in Forest.

Scott County School District STEAM Academy students Brianna Hayes, a senior at Scott Central Attendance Center, and Josh Posey, a student at Lake High School, cut the ribbon held by SCSD Superintendent Alan Lumpkin and Assistant Superintendent Chad Harrison, officially opening the Academy. Hayes offered welcoming comments, and Posey the prayer, prior to cutting the ribbon.

A large crowed gathered at noon last Tuesday in front of the Scott County School District’s brand new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Academy for the official ribbon cutting of the state-of-the-art facility.
