A writer in our neighborhood
Gwen Guthrie Goodrow and husband John moved into our community a couple of years ago. They live in her Grandmother, Ellen Guthrie’s house. She is an accomplished writer and has graciously given me the following information.
Gwen Goodrow’s personal essay “A Fun Game of Hot and Cold” was selected as one of the 72 stories for a Woman’s World Essay booklet. The story shows how Gwen’s travel plans were abruptly halted until a playful angel stepped in and led her to a misplaced passport. The social editing “Hope and Healing Through Angels” is available now on news stands until February 24, 2020.” Congratulations Gwen and thank you for passing this information on!

According to the National News, Mississippi already has a high percentage of flu cases. If you are sick, please stay home, or at least cover your mouth when you cough! Because of a warning on the flu shot, I cannot take it. So thankful it’s cold enough to wear gloves!
The Billy Emmons Family, over in Hazel Community (Newton County) has had much sadness this past week. Billy and Ann’s son, Billy Mack, who lived down close to the Gulf Coast, passed away. He had been deer hunting and killed a deer. He passed away getting it out of the woods. Then a couple days after that his Mother, Ann Emmons, passed away. Please be in prayer for Billy and daughter Lisa Seal in their loss of loved ones. Billy is a cousin of mine.
My Great Gran, Catcher Gray Roberts, (Stephanie and Alan’s four year old son) was sitting in Santa’s lap. Santa asked, “Catcher have you been a good little boy?” Catcher replied, “I have, but sometimes I’m not so good!” Santa replied, “Well, you know son, sometimes us adults are not so good either!” God love him, he was just being a honest little boy!
Did you hear, on National News, “President Trump was playing golf on Thanksgiving and about how much money he has spent on golfing since becoming President? He snuck out, boarded a four seater airplane, with a port-a-potty and took off to start the first of his journey. Was he headed to play golf? Nope, he was headed to Bagram, Afghanistan to serve Thanksgiving dinner to our heroes in camo! This, ladies and gentlemen, is how America treats the president and how the president treats America! God bless our president. A president of the people and for the people!”
A homeless woman, standing on Interstate 20 out of Meridian, was hit by a truck and then seven cars ran over her body. Her body parts were scattered everywhere. So sad for all connected to this tragic event!
“Adam said to God, “I’d like to ask you a question. Why did you make Eve so good looking!” God, “So you could love her!” Adam, “Why did you make her have such a good figure?” God, “So you could love her!” Adam, “Why did you make her hair so beautiful?” God, “So you could love her!” Adam to God, “So why did you make her so dumb?” God, “So she could love you!”

“If I Had My Life to Live Over” (written by Irma Bomback after she found out she was dying from cancer). “There would have been more I love you’s and more I’m Sorry’s; But mostly given another shot at life, I would seize every minute; Look at it and really see it, live it and never give it back; Stop sweating the small stuff; Don’t worry about who doesn’t like you, who has more or whose doing more; Instead, let’s cherish the relationships we have, with those who do love us.”
A 10 year old girl was asked by a classmate, “What’s it like to be a Christian?” The 10-year-old replied, “It’s like being a pumpkin. God picks you from the patch, brings you in and washes the dirt off you. Then He opens the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc., and then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see!”
Let your light shine and have a God blessed week!
