The Forest Bearcats made it two wins in a row last Thursday night with a 41-7 blowout of district foe Choctaw Central. t given a few breaks they would have a much better record this year.
Both teams would combine for 34 points in the third quarter and Forest would score 27 of those points on the way to finishing out the night with a 41-7 district win.
While Brooks and Stewart were working hard getting Forest on the scoreboard the Bearcat defense worked just as hard keeping the home team out of the endzone. The defensive unit would shutout the Warriors in the first half and the Cats headed to the half with a 14-0 lead.
When the second half got underway the Bearcats Jarahvea Washington showed everyone in the stands. Washington took the second half kickoff at the 8-yard line, he sprinted diagonally towards the middle of the field and then got north-and-south and turned on the afterburners taking it back untouched for a 92-yard TD. The kick return and PAT gave Forest a 21-0 lead early in the third quarter.
After swapping mid quarter scores to bring the score to 28-7, Bearcats’ senior Paul Hughes got in on the big play action when he broke loose for a 55-yard scoring run of his own. Hughes also eclipsed the century mark carrying the ball 14 times for 130 yards and his scoring run gave Forest a commanding lead at 34-7. Forest will return home this Friday night where they will look to make it three wins in a row when they host district opponent Southeast Lauderdale. The Tigers will come into the game at 1-6 on the season and 0-1 in the district. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at L.O. Atkins Field.
