Bobcats claim district win over Richton

The Sebastopol made the two-and-a-half-hour trip south to Richton last Friday and fought their way to a tough district win over the Rebels.

In a game that was closer on the scoreboard than it should have been, the Bobcats started slow, but came to life in the second half to get the 23-12 win.

The Forest Bearcats fell to 0-3 on the season after a 48-13 loss to the Pelahatchie Chiefs last Friday night. Through the early season the Bearcats have been competitive, but have come up short on the scoreboard.

Morton loses early lead, and game

The Morton Panthers took the early lead over East Marion last Friday, they kept the lead for over half the game, but allowed the visiting Eagles to take the lead, and the win in the fourth quarter.

The Panthers looked good early, and converted opportunities to points on the scoreboard and take the lead 8-0.

Hearing set for Sept. 12 on proposed tax increase

The Scott County Board of Supervisors has proposed an Ad Valorem Tax increase as part of the 2020 fiscal budget and will hold a public hearing on this matter on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 10:00 a.m. at the Scott County Courthouse.
